ELEMENTS - A class series by Pauline Massimo

Class series oriented for intermediated level for folks looking into establishing their knowledge about Shibari and keep learning on a progressive and personal interest basis.

Pauline curated a unique way of teaching online that goes beyond a follow-up tutorial style but focuses more on a warmer, personalized, and adaptative program where a guided progressive process will be the focus.

In those class series, you will not only learn new things but as well build together a safer space to grow and share with Pauline and other participants.

The structure:

Pauline offers 4 class series, each class is divided into two parts per week, making the 3 hours a week more digestible and giving more time in between to practice and progress with Pauline's guidance.

The program in December:

Equalizing-> The main first step is to make sure everyone is on the same page. There might be some knowledge gaps but Pauline will work to help everyone ground their knowledge and push the bar level to a higher standard.

Tuesday 6th & Wednesday 7th from 22:00 to 23:30 CET

Building blocks-> This class will focus on the building blocks of creating structures and harnesses on the body, but most importantly, understand how it works to have enough freedom to be creative and personalizable.

Tuesday 13th & Wednesday 14th from 22:00 to 23:30 CET

Restricted Movements -> Movement is not only for dancers and restrictions are not only for rope lovers, understand and working with all the movement possibilities in restrictions are fundamental to conveying emotions and communicating. First steps into reading body language and communication skills besides body mechanics and anatomy knowledge.

Tuesday 20th & Wednesday 21st from 22:00 to 23:30 CET

Connection -> Going beyond the stereotypical idea of using Shibari for connection, this topic will scrap from the depth of what is intimacy, communication, and connection to make our practices safer and tuned with our ethical codes.

Tuesday 27th & Wednesday 28th from 22:00 to 23:30 CET

Recording and live attendance:

While recording will be available during the whole weeks of classes, an additional 30 days after the last class ends will be 

available to watch and rewatch as many times as each student needs in this period.

However, Pauline advises to not miss the live classes as the structure of this series is designed and intended for a co-creating process together based on the live participation and between classes feedback and requests.

More than one live class participation will be inconvenient and discouraged, we recommend at least one of the pair participants come to the live class to discuss, ask questions, petition, and give feedback. But even further, transmit to their missing partner the essence of the class that day to work together on their own practice and non-guided exercises at home.

Once filling out the form, please add to the indicated box the title of the classes you want to join so we can send you the exclusive access to the live and recorded class.

Please take in mind that one class is divided into two days, so you must attend the first one on Tuesday and the second one on Wednesday.

After this time, the special price will not be available anymore and you can buy individual access for each class.

Public:

Those classes, like most classes by Pauline, are completely designed and oriented to fulfill the needs of every role in Shibari: riggers (who ties), bottoms/models (who are tied up), and selfies, but also people with interest in switching between different roles.

The class program and discussions will have specific mentions for each role when necessary so nobody is left behind.

You can attend this class solo as a self-tier and as a pair.

Requisites:

Participants for this class series must have previous knowledge and hands-on experience with single-column tie, double-column tie, and basic and complex frictions (from counter tensions, nodomé(s), X friction, and half moon at least or L friction). Knowledge about basic anatomy, safety, communication skills, and negotiation is a must to attend this class. You should not be a total beginner attending this class because is designed to fulfill more of an intermediated mixed-level group.

Live hosting:

The classes will happen live via Zoom. The access will be sent out before the class happens.

The recorded classes will be hosted on the Learn Shibari website and for those who attend the whole program there will be available a HUB page separated from single classes access for those who got individual class access.

About the teacher:

Pauline Massimo, Brazilian-born and based in Barcelona, is an interdisciplinary artist who researches intensively with Shibari for over 10 years, body expression, movement study, performance, and photography. They are the co-founder of Learn Shibari and Espacio Nos (Barcelona), who study and work on building a heterarchical local community focusing on LGBTQIA+, femmes/women, neurodiverse, and socio-economically marginalized collectives with a strong base on radical politics in its building.

Pauline's evolution in ropes/Shibari has been not only intense but interchanging with different experiences of tying, being tied up, and self-tying over the years, a constant study and learning process with others, as well as sharing their knowledge and opportunities to erase gaps as much as possible when it comes to education and accessibility for ropes and more.
