What you will learn:
In this hands-on and technical class, Pauline will share their signature Aries harnesses that have been well praised by riggers and models for many years now.
The focus of this class is on creating different harnesses with a base structure that involves bamboo on the body as part of the tie, not as an add-on. However, there is a possibility to explore a variation without the bamboo on the body for the ones who don't like it or don't have one or just want to add a new harness to their repertoire.
With this harness you can have a hands free, hands tied in the front, change the hands into different positions later on or from the start, you can tie with the bamboo on, you can tie "one rope" minimalistic version, or more complex options that creates an intricate chest harness (as well including the waist or hips). There is so much you can do with this harness.
Some of the variations a suitable for self-tying individuals.
We highly recommend you use a smooth bamboo or a stick that is around 4 cm. Depending on the person it can be thinner or thicker.
• Multiple variations of the Aries Harness from minimalistic to a more complex variation with and without bamboo.
• Pauline makes an overview of anatomy and damage risks concerning the ties shown.
• They will also share tips and tricks on how to improve your tying skills while elaborating on the harnesses.
• It will be shown the possible anchor uplines for each harnesses tied.
Requisites:
• This class is intended for all levels above total beginners to play and apply accordingly to each person's skills and interests. Attending this class means you have already mastered the previous required knowledge as well as your rope model and that everyone also understands a minimum of historical background, specific vocabulary, consent, negotiation, anatomy, injury signs, risk profile, etc.
And models should have a minimum experience being tied up as well as be able to identify and communicate signs related to nerve injury and other types of injuries/negative feelings to their riggers and know a good minimum of their limits and boundaries.
• You will need your own ropes and safety cutting tool. The number of ropes can vary for this class, we could approximately count 3-4 pieces, but it depends on how many layers you tie on and the body size of the tied-up person.
About Pauline Massimo:
Pauline Massimo (no pronouns/they), with roots in Brazil and feet in Barcelona, founder of Espacio Nos and Learn Shibari.
They have been very intense and proactively involved in Shibari for more than a decade, exercising multiple roles as a visual artist, performer, instructor, organizer, learner, researcher, mentor, and among other things, nationally and internationally. Their way of feeling, experiencing, and exposing Shibari, starts from its interdisciplinary and multifaceted base where they explore the infinite relationships with other disciplines and ways of coexisting in the world with a strong tie to radical politics, social constructions, neurodivergence, etc.
They have vast experience giving workshops, classes, lectures, and courses on Shibari and interdisciplinary practices contributing from their own perspective as a rigger, model, and selftier in well-known rope spaces in Europe such as in England, Mexico, Germany, Czech Republic, France, Spain, Costa Rica, Martinique, Colombia, Portugal, The Netherlands, as well as in Brazil, Turkey, etc.
They opt for a more progressive way of studying and learning, choosing precision and detail in their classes. They work from an approach where it takes the student's existing knowledge as a starting point and helps them to realistically approach their goals, always keeping their feet on the ground with conscious practice.
When Pauline is talking about Shibari and teaching, always has in their mind the involvement of both roles with their own complexities and contributing inputs. Both the rigger and model coexist independently and need attention separately, but also as a team working together in having a productive, positive, and intimate journey.
As an agender person, they have no pronouns or gender reference but do not mind having neutral terms used toward them (They/them, for example).
